Christmas

So I couldn’t let today go by without posting a blog, I know that there aren’t very many people reading this (I do check my statistics) so this is mainly for myself. I have to admit I am very thankful that there is a better reason than presents to celebrate Christmas because I didn’t get any. It doesn’t really matter as the purpose of the season isn’t about what you receive it is what you give; it is about what you have been given. Christmas is after all about Christ and his birth, he is what was given to us. Our Heavenly Father sent us the most important gift, he “sent his only begotten son.” I mean how wonderful of a gift is that? In a world that is broken in so many ways, we need Christ more now than ever. There is so much good in the world, and I know that it is Christ that is the author of that good. He brings peace to the weary, he mends the broken hearted. He can bring miracles into lives if people will let him in their hearts. He is the principle reason I want to become a Doctor (I am not going to talk about me). To emulate his life, to be like him and help (I do mean help as I am fully aware that he is the one doing the healing) heal people. Perhaps I will understand a small part of what it is like to be like him. This time of year should last longer; I mean people should be more willing to give without thought of receiving. After all presents come and go, memories fade but the love of the Savior now that is something that can last year round. We can be a little more patient with others, we can hug a little longer, we can make people’s days a little brighter if the light of the Savior permeates our lives. Wouldn’t this world be a spectacular sight if love “garnished our thoughts unceasingly?” It would solve so many trials in other’s lives if we learned “to bare one another’s burdens” like the Savior bares ours. If I could have one wish it would be that his love would touch each person’s life this year and for many years to come. That anyone reading this would smile a little more and love a little deeper because they know that they are loved. May this Holiday season bring you joy and happiness.

I spent a good portion of the day in the Emergency Room at my Internship. It was pretty interesting as there were plenty of patients to look after. There were lots of lacerations, chest pains, food allergies, and depression. It is amazing how the holidays bring on so much pain as they are suppose to bring joy into our lives. I was grateful for the opportunity to work on Christmas as it gave me a chance to give back and to ease another’s pain during Christmas.
