I am trying to decide on a different major. I thought I could pass calculus but much to my regret I cannot. I have attempted it several times and have met with the same result each time. I can’t go onto the other parts of computer science without passing calculus. There are several benefits to changing majors of which the most important is I can graduate earlier than I could with computer science. Now the real question is what major should I choose? I am thinking about Political Science and then heading on to law school. If I do that I would want to perhaps then get my Ph.D. in Political Science or similar field. These are just thoughts so far but I really feel like I can make a bigger difference in the world and in other’s lives in a more public forum by majoring in something that has relevance to people’s lives. Computers on the other hand are often times difficult for people to understand and more importantly people have a hard time relating to people that are involved in computers. Not to mention that if I do change majors I don’t have to worry about any additional math or physics, this sound very appealing to me. This would also mean that my blog would change directions slightly. If I do major in Political Science I would want to share more thoughts about current affairs and their meaning in our lives. Traditional media sources tend to put a spin on current affairs that aren’t always positive. I find most news and opinions about the news, jaded and worn out. If anyone has any thoughts on what type of major would help me learn and make the most difference in the most amount of people’s lives I would love to hear it.
