Over two hundred years ago several great men who had helped colonize America made a very important and crucial decision. They began the process of declaring independence from the dominant power of the time and that was England. They did not take their decision lightly, they had grievances that the King of England was failing to address and felt they had no choice but to revolt.

The new American continent had proved to be quite different than England. Their trials and tribulations were significantly different…

A Declaration of Independence is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

I was reading an article on the war on drugs that started with the Nixon administration and it discussed how the U.S. is losing the war on drugs and well frankly, is this surprising to anyone? The problem is that the war on drugs does not address the problem, it merely addresses the symptoms. To put it in simple terms drugs are like a cold and the war on drugs is like cold medicine. It only takes care of the symptoms and well right now the cold is winning. So the question is why…

The War on drugs, waste of time?

Violence as a means for social change is difficult to comprehend. The very essence of social change is to make society different even better at points; regardless of the causes, violence seems to only make it worse. Whether it is life, liberty or property someone always loses something when violence is employed. If all other non-violent options are exhausted and violence is the only means to bring about the needed changes then the violence is immeasurable in value. Ever made a stereotype or generalization about a particular group of people based upon what you “know”? Many people only consider the overt forms of racism as racism; they think the hate groups are the only ones who are racist or bad. But what about those people that aren’t overtly racist but instead are covert about their racism? These are just a few ideas of how people can be racist without even knowing it.

Most people don’t know that CSUSM’s official full-time status is significantly lower than the financial aid status that is considered full-time. Accord to CSUSM full-time is anything over 6 units, however the required units for full-time for financial aid and many insurance companies is 12 units. So the fact that CSUSM has limited once again students to only 13 units is no coincidence. They make no additional money off of students if they take more than 12 units. Financial aid and any aid from the state and or federal government does not increase if you take more than 12 units.…

It’s no coincidence and the bourgeois bureaucrats at CSUSM know it! is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

Apparently California State University – San Marcos is no longer in the business of graduating students at least not unless you are willing to play by their obscenely inane rules. They once again, due to “budget” cuts are restricting the level of units that a student can take to only 13! The absolute absurdity of this is that they are continuing to build a student union to the tune of about 40+ million dollars. So let’s see they aren’t willing to give up their student union for a while until the budget “rights” itself.

The upcoming Arizona Immigration Law is severely flawed. It criminalizes to an extreme level those who have entered the country without wading through the mound of paper work and dealing with the obscenely long waiting period. What it doesn’t do is address the fundamental causes of undocumented workers. Currently the immigration system is set up to only “allow” a select few of individuals that are lucky enough to win the immigration lottery. Why is the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness criminal? It is the basis for which this country was founded; we of all people should be embracing individuals from…

Arizona Immigration Law is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

Often times it comes in the form of “have’s” and “have not’s”. We tend to see things in absolutes. A person is either all good or all bad. I thought I would do it by taking LSAT’s incessantly over the next few months. I took an LSAT on Saturday and I realized that this was a less than amiable strategy. You see I am a fairly logical person and the LSAT is all about the logic, but it isn’t common logic.

This afternoon I received an email from the President of CSUSM, the school I am attending. It was informing the student body that there was found in one of the bathrooms on campus, racial epithets. There have been a string of these lately, UCSD and their racial problems included. I am wondering where this is all coming from. My parents are from areas where racism was certainly more prevalent, but I wasn’t raised that way.

According to Islam, Jesus Christ was merely a prophet. He did miracles and prophesied but the basis upon which Christianity is founded they dispute. What it really boils down to is, did Jesus Christ atone for the sins of the world and was he crucified and resurrected? Islam would have you believe that it didn’t happen and that the Koran was sent to Mohammed by the angel Gabriel to correct Christianity. So the question I have is this, which one is correct? Who is right? I mean after all you have two different sacred texts in direct contradiction with each…

Jesus Christ, not the Savior of the World? is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

I find this very interesting, except the text that they choose title, “The Vision of Islam” by Murata & Chittick is VERY confusing (either that or Islam it’s self is confusing, the jury is still out on this one). This year we have been through a whole lot of “change” some good and some not so good. In my opinion our president made promises that he has not kept (no surprise there as most of them don’t). As a society we have suffered greatly at the hands of greedy and unethical individuals and companies that feel that they are entitled to more than their fair share. We have seen actors, directors, politicians all behaving badly, this isn’t unusual per…

Reflections for 2009 and the decade is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

We still had no idea what to get my brother in-law or my father in-law. I had some ideas but for the most part they are incredibly hard to shop for, not because I didn’t want to get them gifts but because my father in-law has everything he wants and my brother in-law isn’t very obvious in what he wants. I have decided that for the sake of my family and the sake of my sanity that I am going to change my major to Criminology and Justice Studies. Although this major will be significantly more “interesting” to me it will also be more difficult to find a job that would utilize my degree.

Blogging, what is it?

If you are reading this, then you have arrived at a blog, below is a summary of what blogging is and how it has changed modern mass media.

Blogging has become a new way to communicate; it is a relatively new concept however it has changed the forefront of mass media. No longer are individuals bound to receive information strictly from tradtional news sources. Blogging can be used as a journal or as a way to promote an idea or product. Many individuals use it as a way to make money through not only…

Blogging: A new way to communicate is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

Sure my body isn’t what it used to be but that’s just the way things go. Here are just a few things I’ve learned over the years.

First of all would have to be the importance of being true to yourself. At the end of the day if you aren’t happy with yourself then it is up to you to fix it. Only you are responsible for being happy as no one and nothing…

Here is to thirty-two years is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

Today my wife and I were watching Christmas movies; it was a nice way to spend Sunday. It started with an 80′s classic “Smokey Mountain Christmas” with Dolly Parton and Lee Majors. I liked this movie because although the focus wasn’t on the Savior it was on the family and how it didn’t matter who your family was but rather that you were a part of a family and how you treated your family. The next movie was “What I did for love” and it was about a Los Angeles attorney that had to gain the respect of his girlfriend’s…

It seems that family might be more important than we thought is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

This week also holds something special for me as I will be turning 32 on Tuesday, more about that in a different blog post. As previously posted in All Hallows Eve, my wife is all about the holidays. Windows 7 is a pretty decent upgrade from both Windows Vista and Windows XP. There quite a few improvements that I feel are worth mentioning. First would certainly be the lack of the UAC or the little pest as I like to call it. It only bothers me occasionally with Windows 7 whereas in Windows Vista it was a constant annoyance. It now hangs on one of our walls as a constant reminder of how precious the present is, and how important it is to not take the day for granted. I think we often get caught up in the day to day grind of life and forget how important it is to treasure what we have in our life. Perhaps that is what the holiday season is all about, taking time to enjoy the moments that can bring us all together. I could not fathom the immense feeling of inadequacies that would go through his mind. First and foremost would be the question, who am I to be the father of the Savior of the world, I am just a carpenter. It has been said that when we want to communicate with God we should pray and when God wants to communicate to us we…

5 Ways to Improve our Relationship with our Heavenly Father is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

Today we got our test back for calculus, it wasn’t pretty. But I am not alone the class average was only 1 point above mine. I of course would like to have scored above the average but I didn’t. What does that say about a professor when an entire class fails an exam? It can’t be that an entire class is wrong or rather inadequate. Despite my best efforts I am not going to pass this class unless of course the professor curves the class at the end. It is comforting knowing that there are others that are in the…

I am not alone is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

If you could know the future, would you? What about a glimpse? A show called Flash Forward presents just this premise. The entire world blacked out at the exact same time and saw six months in the future. They only saw a few minutes of what their future was and thus it was incomplete. They didn’t know how or why they got there, this certainly leads to a glimpse that doesn’t allow them to see the decisions that lead up to their future. This brings me to my point. No matter what decisions we make, there is no way that…

Flash Forward is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

These brave men and women sacrifice willingly of their time and means to bring the United States of America some of the choicest blessings of ANY nation on the earth. After reading a few more blogs I realized that I didn’t do some of them justice. Unfortunately the situation goes both ways, we as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sometimes come off as judgmental. When someone leaves the church although we may disagree with them for leaving, we should NEVER treat them with the same contempt…

The Spirit of Love is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

In light of all that is going on in the world, I think this subject is one that is appropriate. Often times so many people sit idly by and watch as the decisions of others affect their lives and not necessarily for the good. Then when they don’t like what has happened they sit back and complain about it. It is only when it affects them directly do they start getting involved. Certainly the time to get involved is before you are affected. There is so much room for change but if we let the world go on without saying…

Raising your voice to be heard is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

The shooting at Fort Hood, the office rampage in Florida, the boy who was set on fire for $40, the girl who was gang raped in front of the Richmond High School, and so many more than I can’t list them all. Occasionally, I would wake up take a shower and get dressed for school and then go back to bed and lie there not being able to go back to sleep. School then was amazing, I couldn’t wait to go. Well today while I was cleaning the pot I wanted to use, I was attempting to look deeper in the pot to see if I missed a spot. Well I was holding it with my left hand and cleaning it with my right. I am reminded of one of my favorite movies, “You’ve Got Mail”, the scene where Joe Fox visits Kathleen Kelly, the women who he put out of business. Don’t get me wrong I like to exercise; I just have a hard time getting started. Getting out the door is the hardest part. Once I am out, I am really good about sticking to it.

Often times I will seek out blogs that have a Mormon theme to them or perhaps discuss something about my faith. Quite frequently I find anti-Mormon blogs. I find it interesting how incredibly spiteful most of them are and about how bound and determined they are to prove us wrong. There was one particular blog who said that if the National Geographic Association didn’t know of any archaeological information linking The Book of Mormon to South America that it didn’t exist. I challenged their argument based on the fact that just because they said it doesn’t mean it is the absolute truth.…

They can’t handle the truth is a post from: Taylor Darcy.com

She is now trying to teach the way she thinks is best. I can’t blame her however it is certainly making life even more difficult than it was already. Her expectations are shall we say interesting. It has been like this all semester. It seems that no matter what we try the target keeps moving. I am grateful that the gospel isn’t like academia or the work force. I have attempted it several times and have met with the same result each time. I can’t go onto the other parts of computer science without passing calculus. There are several benefits to changing majors of which the most important is I can graduate earlier than I could with computer science. Now the real question is what major should I choose? I am thinking about Political Science and then heading on to law school.
