In 1839 Joseph Smith was incarcerated in Liberty Jail based on false allegations. During his time in jail he petitioned the judge for release but his pleas were met with no relief. He also petitioned the Lord for help, “O God, where art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place? How long shall thy hand be stayed, and thine eye, yea thy pure eye, behold from the eternal heavens the wrongs of thy people and of thy servants, and thine ear be penetrated with their cries? Yea, O Lord, how long shall they suffer these wrongs

That they might have joy

Nephi teaches us, “Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy” (2 Nephi 2:25) I have always loved this scriptures because it reminds me that in these troubled times that there is more to life than simply existing. We are here so that we might have joy. I strongly believe that joy is greater than happiness. Happiness is what you feel in the moment; it is somewhat temporary and fleeting. Peace

While on my mission, we use to give spiritual messages to members that would invite us over for dinner. One of my favorite messages to give was one where I begin by juggling. The children loved the juggling but I also would teach a gospel principle.
