In one of my previous posts “They Can’t Handle the Truth” I blogged about individuals that feel the need to attack our faith, these individuals feel it is incumbent upon them to correct us of our errors. After reading a few more blogs I realized that I didn’t do some of them justice. Unfortunately the situation goes both ways, we as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sometimes come off as judgmental. When someone leaves the church although we may disagree with them for leaving, we should NEVER treat them with the same contempt and…
Often times I will seek out blogs that have a Mormon theme to them or perhaps discuss something about my faith. Quite frequently I find anti-Mormon blogs. I find it interesting how incredibly spiteful most of them are and about how bound and determined they are to prove us wrong. There was one particular blog who said that if the National Geographic Association didn’t know of any archaeological information linking The Book of Mormon to South America that it didn’t exist. I challenged their argument based on the fact that just because they said it doesn’t mean it is the absolute truth.…
I was reading a blog that discussed the “differences” between mainstream Christianity and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The controversy lies in the fact that most of Christianity, denies that prophets can exist. They believe that The Bible is the absolute and final word of God. It is the cannon and is closed. Yet, it is apparent that although they read The Bible they do not believe everything in the bible. For instance in Amos it clearly states, “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” (Amos…
I found myself saying the above phrase to my nephew tonight as he was trying to get his sister to move away from in front of his view of the movie. I found this an opportunity to teach him a valuable lesson. I proceeded to get my niece’s attention and told her that her brother had something to ask her. He then proceeded to ask her to move out of his view. She view quickly moved out of his way and went on watching the movie. It was a very simple thing and yet it was easier for him to…
Perhaps I should have led with this, but here it is now none-the-less. I have a testimony of the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. As a young boy he had the courage to pray to find out which church was true. The following is Joseph’s account: “For, notwithstanding the great love which the converts to these different faiths expressed at the time of their conversion, and the great zeal manifested by the respective clergy, who were active in getting up and promoting this extraordinary scene…
Today is the first day of 179th Semi-Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints. Every six months the church holds a General Conference, this conference is held to build and uplift the Saints. It is much like when Jesus taught the Sermon on the Mount. It is also like when King Benjamin addressed his people in The Book of Mormon. The leaders of our church instruct and teach us principles of the gospel. Like apostles and prophets of old they give us God’s will for our lives for the upcoming time. We sustain the general leadership…

Just as Faith is the first principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ, repentance is the second principle of the gospel. Repentance often gets a bad connotation. It usually is regarded as something painful or otherwise unpleasant. To say that most people aren’t exactly fond of repenting is an understatement. I know that in my life I have to overcome the same negative connotations just like everyone else. The nature of repentance…
