There are plenty of people who are willing to tear you down and attempt to make you feel worthless.  We have enough of these people, they are everywhere on the internet.  They tear you down because they can hide behind the anonymity of the internet.  There are little to no consequence for their actions.  There are too many who are willing to do or say anything in trying to make themselves feel better about their own inadequacies.  The only problem is, people do not get bigger by making someone else smaller.  People get bigger by making others bigger.  It is the law of reciprocation. What you put out into the world you will get back!  I have read countless articles on successful entrepreneurs and people with successful careers and they all have one thing in common.  They are optimists.  We need more of these types of people.

We need people who are willing to go the extra mile because they enjoy the walk.  We live in some pretty dark times now and we need more people to bring the light.  We need more good.  We need more people willing to stand up and say something when something isn’t right.  We have too many people who are willing to roll over and do nothing when faced with adversity.  There comes a point when we have to stand up and be a part of the solution instead of on the sidelines complaining that the game is not fair.

It amazes me that people (generally speaking) are good, yet they are capable of doing such horrific things to one another.  I believe that most people are just trying to get along in this world and that we could all use a hand once in a while.  Maybe today, you could be that hand.  Maybe today you will say yes to helping the homeless man who is begging on the street that you so often pass by and fail to acknowledge much less do anything.  You don’t help because you want a reward or to feel good about yourself.  You help because you see another human in need and in a world of abundance you have more than enough, so you give without regard for your own personal self-interest.

Maybe today, you will be just a little more patient on the road and let someone in when you otherwise wouldn’t.  Maybe today, when your daughter gets on your last nerve you take a deep breath, step back, and realize she wants to be just like you and makes mistakes along the way.

Maybe today you will say no to all the things that don’t matter and yes to the things that do.

We only get so much time in this life, even when we think it will go on forever.  What kind of legacy are you leaving?

When others remember you what do they think of?

My wife is a perfect example of the type of kindness and love that the world needs more of, you see before we started seriously dating she brought to my house (which was a decent distance out of her way) a drink and a snack for me.  I didn’t ask her for it, heck I didn’t even know she was coming.  She left the snack and a note on the porch for me to find on my way out the door.  She took time to think of me!  During this time, there were not many people thinking about me.  I know this was something simple and perhaps you might dismiss it saying she liked me so of course she would do something like this, but what if we all treated each other like this?

What if we treated each other like we liked them?  We could go out of our way to make someone’s day brighter or just a little easier.  There is so much we can do to make this world a better place.  It doesn’t have to be dark, our lives can be full of light but only if we have the courage to let the light in.

In case you missed it, I decided where I want my blog to go.  I want to use this blog to bring light into your world.  The world has enough darkness and hate, what the world needs now is love and light.  So I challenge you to live a life of light, hope, and optimism.  I challenge you to be the light in others lives, even if it is difficult or inconvenient.  In the end it will matter very little what we have done, if we have not shared our light.
