While I wait, I thought I would write a blog post.  You see (ok well perhaps you don’t in this case), I have recently switched web hosting to give a better page response time yet due to technical glitches it has not shown up yet, but when it does it is going to be amazing! You see I use WordPress for my CMS (which is awesome as well), DMS for my Design and Flyte (thank you Nick Haskins) for my theme.  Now, I am switching from Dreamhost to Flywheel.  Dreamhost has been good, don’t get me wrong but it hasn’t been as good as I would have liked for the amount of money I would have liked.  Sure they are inexpensive but I was using shared hosting and unfortunately that means that my website shared the IP address with an inappropriate website (among other problems with using shared hosting).  I bring this up because it is important to know that you get what you pay for, I could have purchased an IP address so I wouldn’t be associated with that website but for the same amount of money and a lot more security I can switch hosts.  It’s like going from a Honda Civic to a Ferrari.

Flywheel has been amazing and I highly recommend them! I receive no benefit from promoting their service other than passing along something I find of value.  All I had to do was send them some basic information and they were able to transfer my site to their servers.  This may not matter to you but that is a big deal.  It usually takes a lot time and effort to change servers.  You have to recreate almost everything from the ground up.  Flywheel makes the process entirely painless!

So why is hosting so important?  Well, if you have the right host your website will be fast and responsive.  It can handle a lot of traffic easily.  Most importantly you can get your message out with little to no downtime.  Now there is no such thing as a perfect host but some are certainly better than others.  A good host can make or break a website (no pun intended).

I am waiting for the necessary changes to be propagated throughout the internet.  Until then I am offline, kind of depressing place really, especially since I want to post this.
